Edwin Nyanducha
Edwin is a corporate finance analyst, lecturer, writer and renowned debater with over 12 years of professional experience. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance option) from the University of Nairobi and is a qualified accountant registered with the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board. He the founder and principal consultant of Inkubate Ltd and is actively involved in many business and development issues from finance raising to review of development trends.
Edwin’s notable experience
For one of Kenya’s top 3 Safaricom mobile dealers, Edwin was the project director for provision of transaction support in their effort to acquire another mobile dealer. For the transaction, he did a vendor financial and operational due diligence, developed projected performance incorporating various scenarios, conducted a business valuation and attended negotiation meetings to assist the client.
On behalf of Renaissance Capital, Edwin was required to develop a complex financial model for a client in the agribusiness sector with a turnover of USD 15M that they were interested in acquiring. The model had to test the sensitivity of the cash position and other working capital items of the business to changes in world commodity prices, the exchange rate, rainfall and disease variables. This assignment had an extremely tight deadline as it had to be completed in under two weeks which Edwin managed and the model was adopted and used for presentations to investors without any changes being requested for.
Edwin developed a robust yet comprehensive financial model and aspects of Mobile Decisioining’s (MoDe) business plan that served to communicate to both top management and investing shareholders of the anticipated business results and Airtel Africa. For a period of over three years, the models have proven to be a faithful representation of actual results and have continued to be used to align the plans of MoDe, shareholders and the operator (Airtel) in determining the operations of the business.
Edwin previously worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in their Corporate Finance and Strategy department where his worked exposed him to various aspects of finance raising, deal making and feasibility studies. Edwin also worked for Deloitte in their audit department for three years. Prior to founding Inkubate Ltd, Edwin was a Principal Consultant at Strathmore Research and Consultancy Center in charge of business development, delivery on projects and day to day running of the firm. Edwin has also worked with as a consultant with Dalberg Global Development Advisors on UN assignments.
Josphat Kinyua
Josphat Kinyua is a seasoned investment banker and real estate guru with over 25 years of professional experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture (1st Class Honors) from the University of Nairobi and a MSc. in Real Estate Finance from MIT. He previously worked with UBS in New York, First Africa Capital in London and Johannesburg, was Stanbic Bank’s previous head of project finance for the whole of South Africa and the head of Renaissance Capital’s private equity operations in Africa where he oversaw the development of Tatu City. He now sits on the board of Mobile Decisioning, a start up with revenues in excess of USD 30 million that won IBM’s Global Start Up of the Year 2012 in New York.
Josphat is a dormant partner in Inkubate Ltd primarily tasked with providing mentorship and business development for the firm. He is based in Johannesburg, South Africa though he frequently travels to many quarters of the globe.
